VNUHCM-UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE DISCUSSES TECHNOLOGY TRENDS WITH QUALCOMM VIET NAM

On 13 November, VNUHCM-麻豆传媒 (HCMUS) welcomed a delegation of representatives from Qualcomm Viet Nam for an open discussion concerning technology trends and innovative activities in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and microchips, as well as potential areas for cooperation between the two parties.

The meeting was attended by Mr Ramesh Rao鈥擲enior Director of Engineering; Mr L锚 V膬n Khanh鈥擲enior Engineer; and Ms Nguy峄卬 Thanh Th岷鈥擝usiness Development Team Lead for Qualcomm Viet Nam. Representing HCMUS were Assoc. Prof. Tr岷 Minh Tri岷縯鈥擵ice President; Assoc. Prof. Ng么 膼岷 Nghi峄噋鈥擧ead of the External Relations Office; Dr 膼岷穘g L锚 Khoa鈥擵ice Dean of the Faculty of Electronics 鈥 Telecommunications; along with lecturers, researchers, and numerous students interested in new technology fields.

Speaking at the session, Assoc. Prof. Tr岷 Minh Tri岷縯 presented an overview of the University鈥檚 education and research capabilities. The Vice President emphasised a desire to expand cooperation with Qualcomm to enable students and lecturers to access advanced technology, thereby promoting applied research programmes and innovation.

In the specialist sharing session, Qualcomm representatives presented the Corporation鈥檚 prominent technology platforms. The Qualcomm Dragonwing鈩 QRB2210 processor鈥攁n energy-optimised solution for robotics and industrial IoT applications鈥攚as deemed suitable for the academic environment as a strong support for experimental research and the development of automation models. Furthermore, the Qualcomm AI Hub platform was introduced as a tool to help research groups deploy AI models directly onto devices. The platform helps reduce testing time, optimise performance, and expand AI applications in both training and technology practice.

Qualcomm also introduced the Qualcomm Viet Nam Innovation Challenge (QVIC)鈥攁 national-scale technology start-up playground for research groups and start-ups in the fields of AI, IoT, 5G, robotics, and smart cities. The programme offers opportunities to receive product development funding, technical mentoring, intellectual property support, and connections with international businesses. QVIC 2026 is currently accepting applications until the end of 31 December 2025.

The discussion confirmed several points of convergence in the development strategies of VNUHCM-麻豆传媒 and Qualcomm, especially in the education, training and application of AI, IoT technology, microchip design, and technology transfer. Both sides assessed the potential for deep cooperation in the near future, including supporting research, developing applied laboratories, organising technical seminars, and internship programmes.
