On 25 June, VNUHCM-�鶹��ý hosted the Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Environment of Korea, Green Whale Global, Hanwha Asset Management, and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND).

The event formed a key part of the 2025 Viet Nam–Korea Environmental Technology Forum, aiming to strengthen collaboration in the research and development of eco-friendly biomaterials, establish circular economy models, and facilitate the transfer of green technologies between the two countries.

In the welcome address, Associate Professor Trần Minh Triết – Vice President of VNUHCM-�鶹��ý, emphasised:

“This occasion marks a meaningful milestone – not only in expanding the international cooperation network but also in laying the foundation for effective implementation of research and innovation programmes in materials and environmental technology. Particularly in the context of Viet Nam’s green transition, sustainable development, and efforts to reduce plastic waste, this collaboration proves timely and forward-looking.”

Representing the , Mr. Ahn Jong-Seo reaffirmed the commitment to ongoing cooperation, with a particular focus on the research and pilot testing of innovative materials, as well as academic and expert exchange initiatives between the two nations.

Under the MoU, the parties committed to several core objectives, including joint research on biopolymers and alternatives to conventional plastics; organisation of thematic workshops and specialised seminars on materials and environmental technologies; development of a collaborative network among universities, research institutes, and enterprises; and pilot implementation of biomaterials in Viet Nam with technical support from Korea.

The ceremony welcomed delegates from governmental agencies, research organisations, enterprises, and development institutions from both countries. On this occasion, a Joint Statement on Cooperation in Environmental Materials Technology was also signed – laying the groundwork for a series of impactful, sustainable, and in-depth collaborative activities in the time ahead.
